Main level exterior walls are up!
Every day, it seems that all I can say is "Wow!" I'm
generally more articulate than that, but "Wow!" is all I can
manage.
It turns out that they can't do the ledge wall in the great room the way I wanted it.
There's some piddly concern about about the headers that hold up the
second floor. Since I do want the house to remain standing, the
wall is is going to have to go all the way to 9' (ceiling height) right
there. What we're going to do is open up a shelf in the wall
itself so that it still has the open "feel" to it. Stan is a bit
skeptical, but I think it'll work well and look great.
I'm not sure that the windows in the great room are the right width
(or rather, the changed right width :-). I talked to Tammy today
and she made a phone call to follow-up on it.
I'm totally obsessing about decisions right now! Since Tammy is
taking care of the window issue, I can save my agonizing for appliances
and kitchen layout.

| Left to right: great room window,
fireplace, great room window. These are the windows
that I think are the original size rather than the updated size. |
The guys are standing in the
breakfast nook. |
This shows the wall that is going to have to be
9' after all. We'll have them open up from the door frame
height up to the header. |

From the kitchen facing towards the
breakfast nook and great room. I don't know why
there's a half-wall here--that will end up being cabinets facing
both directions. |
